- Glaciers - Franz Josef Glacier - Queenstown
- Milford - Te Anau - Christchurch
Day 1: Christchurch - Glaciers
Board the TranzAlpine train in Christchurch
and travel on the plains of Canterbury and Arthur’s
Pass National Park, through a tunnel under the
Southern Alps on the West Coast where we proceed
past the stunning mountain scenery in Franz
Josef Glacier region. Overnight at Franz Josef.
Day 2: Franz Josef Glacier
Take a tour of Franz Josef Glacier and see the
beautiful landscape.
Day 3: The glaciers - Queenstown
Take a trip to South Westland along the coast
and the river Haast. We pass by Lakes Wanaka
and Hawea and the Kawarau Gorge to reach Queenstown,
where you spend the night.
Day 4: Queenstown
Spend a day in Queenstown and engage in hiking,
visit sheep farm, lake cruises, bungee jumping
and water sports. You can also try to take a
look at the skyline Gondola at night.
Day 5: Queenstown - Milford - Te Anau
Coach Trip along Lake Wakatipu in Kingston and
Te Anau, and go through the Homer tunnel and
Cleddau Canyon, Eglinton and Hollyford valleys
and arrive at Milford Sound. Here you can have
an enjoyable cruise on Milford Sound and Mitre
Peak and see waterfalls around you. Spend the
night in Te Anau.
Day 6: Te Anau - Dunedin
Journey through pastures South Otago and Southland,
Gore and Balclutha as you go to Dunedin. Take
a tour and see its heritage sites. Stay overnight
in Dunedin.
Day 7: Dunedin - Christchurch
Coach Trip through the hill landscape of Otago
in Oamaru, Timaru and the plains of Canterbury
until you arrive at Christchurch, at the end
of your New Zealand Alpine Tour.
